題目

Current Progress and Future Perspectives of Ion-Trap Quantum Computing at NTHU

摘要

Quantum computing shows vast potential across fields such as material science, medicine, finance, and artificial intelligence. This talk highlights recent advances in ion-trap quantum computing at National Tsing Hua University (NTHU).

At NTHU, we have established Taiwan's first ion-trap system, successfully demonstrating the trapping and cooling of calcium ions. Recently, by utilizing parametric heating techniques, we have successfully prepared calcium-43 ions, an isotope with a natural abundance of only 0.135%. With their complex hyperfine structure and nuclear spin properties, calcium-43 ions serve as ideal hyperfine qubits, ideal for achieving high-fidelity two-ion CNOT gates using these ions.

Furthermore, aiming at quantum system miniaturization and industrial applications, we are developing a chip-based ion trap. We seek to foster practical applications and promote the applications of quantum technologies.

This presentation will discuss relevant experimental techniques, recent research outcomes, and future research directions.
