TITLE

Metamaterials for directional non-classical light sources

ABSTRACT

On demand, bright and directional single photon emitters specifically and non-classical light sources, in general, are essential for quantum information processing including QKD. The often followed route to realize such sources is to embed dipole emitters like single quantum dots, or nanodiamonds with defects in high quality factor (Q) cavity or medium optimized for large photonic density of states. With the advent of metamaterials, designed materials with sub-wavelength featured constituents, light-matter interaction at the nanoscale is possible for miniature, high efficiency emitters. In this talk, I will present experimental and theoretical results on different metamaterials embedded with single quantum dot or nanodiamond with single nitrogen vacancy for directional non-classical light generation.
